10 Sting WWE Matches You'll Never Get To See

3. Vince McMahon

Okay, okay, the idea of 56-year old Sting and 70-year old Vince McMahon locking up in the centre of the ring isn't exactly the most enticing, but do you not feel there is an overriding feeling that this should have happened at some point? Vince McMahon has faced pretty much every great from the Monday Night Wars; he has battled Shawn Michaels, Ric Flair, The Undertaker, Hulk Hogan, Steve Austin, Bret Hart, and even his own son, Shane McMahon. Sting is a different beast altogether to those names however, in that his loyalty never wavered. Not only that, but his loyalty was always to the competition, World Championship Wrestling. When Vince bought WCW in 2001, Sting refused to make the jump. It would take a decade before he did so. In my opinion, this is the match that should have been made for WrestleMania XXXI. Not only that, but it would also have made the most sense regarding the interference throughout. By putting the Genghis Khan of wrestling up against the one man who refused his hand, the Monday Night Wars nostalgia-fest that we got last year would have made more sense. Vince would have needed help, and a number of WCW stars would have had a fire lit underneath them. Plus who doesn't love the idea of Vince McMahon cowering in the corner, pulling out some legendary facial expressions, as Sting towers over him with his signature baseball bat in hand?

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
