10 Stunning Incidents Which Led To Wrestlers Being Fined

7. An Entire Company Is Financially Censured

The state of Kentucky's athletic commission is pretty darn strict, something WWE found out to their own significant cost in 2006. That year's Backlash Pay-Per-View was full of incidents which angered the committee, and led to almost ten violations from the Kentucky commission. Deemed the worst offender, the main event pitting John Cena, Triple H and Edge against one another in a Triple Threat Match for the WWE Championship featured a lot of spilled blood, and almost led to the company losing their license to run events in the state. If any of this sounds a little ridiculous - pro wrestling is staged entertainment, after all - that's because it likely is, but rules are rules, and even the mighty Vince McMahon and company must adhere to them. Of course, WWE don't have such worries nowadays, now that blood is banned from the promotion, but back in 2006 it was a large part of the drama. After Shawn Michaels had already bladed during a tag-team match featuring the ludicrous scenario of him teaming with "God" to face Vince McMahon and his son Shane, the Kentucky state committee fined WWE at least $900. In fairness, it was probably worth it for the amount the company made back on DVD sales!
