10 Superstars Who Could Be WWE's Next Top Heels
8. TJ Perkins
TJ Perkins might be great in the ring, but he’s also incredibly difficult to like. Some of his promos across RAW and 205 Live have been excruciatingly smarmy, with Perkins denigrating Neville’s physical appearance whilst sporting the most punch-able of grins. These are attributes that usually make somebody a heel, but Perkins is currently packaged as a kid-friendly Nintendo advert made flesh.
It’d be hard to turn TJ heel without completely doing away with his chirpy pseudo-Sonic entrance theme, kooky glasses and incessant dabbing, but outside of those props and gimmicks, Perkins is a fully fledged heel trapped inside a babyface’s body (trapped inside an Atari cartridge).
It’s still early days for the Cruiserweight Division, and a lot of performers are still figuring out their characters. It’d be great for a few more genuinely detestable heels to emerge from the ranks of 205 Live, and Perkins is in a prime position to be one. He’s got motive (the loss of his title thanks to close friendships with the rest of the roster), opportunity (any one of the many Cruiserweight tag matches presents a chance for TJ to turn on his ally) and the means to become one of the division’s slimiest villains.
