There were a fair few concerned glances when Judgment Day man JD McDonagh struck the announce desk on the 27 January episode of Raw. The Irishman was mid-moonsault when his body thumped into the mix of wood, plastic and metal at ringside. It was a sickening sound, and it was clear he was badly injured. Afterwards, news spread that JD had sustained a brutal punctured lung and broken rib(s) combo.

Yikes.

Thankfully, McDonagh quickly took to socials and allayed fan fears that things were even worse. The fall really did look awful, but it was great to know he was in good spirits and keen to start his journey back. At the time, injury reports estimated that JD would miss a few months of action, so there's a solid chance he'll be back on television shortly after WrestleMania 41.

It's just a bummer that the hardworking ex-tag champ will have to sit on the sidelines and miss a 'Mania pay day. Nobody wants that, and no fan would wish it on any WWE star. Hopefully, McDonagh can make up for that misery in 2026. For now, he'll just be fully focused on getting things going again with Judgment Day.

No-one's out here suggesting that JD has to wrestle lengthy matches as soon as he returns, but having him play a part in the slow-burn split story his mentor Finn Bálor is working with other Judgment Day members makes sense. Logically, McDonagh would side with Finn long term against the likes of Dominik Mysterio and Liv Morgan.
