10 Things AEW Are Getting Absolutely Right At The Moment

5. Eddie Kingston

Three months ago, Eddie Kingston was yet to arrive on the AEW scene. A longtime veteran of the independent wrestling world, Kingston seemed destined to go down in history as one of the most talented men to never get a fair crack at the mainstream, an elite-level promo and tremendously believable performer who deserved much more. That tremendous street fight with Cody on July 22 was all the spark that was needed.

In the months since that match, Eddie Kingston has established himself as a force to be reckoned with in AEW. Arguably the best talker in the company (think of the ground that covers), Kingston positively oozes danger, he oozes credibility, legitimacy and violence. Kingston came up short against Cody, but it didn't hurt him. He came up short against Jon Moxley, but it didn't hurt him. Defeats matter, but they mean more to Kingston than most. This is a man whose entire life has been about picking himself back up.

Eddie Kingston is ten feet tall right now. His abilities on the microphone have given a new face to both the Lucha Bros and the Butcher and the Blade, two tag teams fighting for legitimacy in a stacked tag division. Eddie Kingston has been a revelation. What a difference a few months can make...

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
