2. Ambrose Has The Third Longest Reign Ever As United States Champion
The 2013 Extreme Rules pay per view was a coming out party of sorts for The Shield. Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns defeated Team Hell No (Kane and Daniel Bryan) for the WWE Tag Team Championship ending their 245 day run. On the same night, Dean Ambrose defeated Kofi Kingston to capture the United States title. Now all three members of the dominant Shield faction held gold. Ambrose held the title for 351 days before being defeated by Sheamus this past May. Ambrose's reign is the longest in WWE history, and third longest ever behind Lex Luger (523 days) and Rick Rude (419 days) for NWA and WCW. The problem with Ambrose's reign was he never regularly defended it. Obviously that was the fault of creative and not Ambrose as they clearly didn't care about the belt. The most interesting stat of Ambrose's 351-day run is he only defended the title fourteen times and only four times from November 2013 to May 2014.
