10 Things That Are Inevitable Before WWE WrestleMania 33

1. Roman Reigns Will Return To The Main Event Scene

Roman Reigns has endured a torrid time since running foul of WWE’s Wellness Policy. After losing his championship at Money in the Bank then returning to eat a clean pin at Battleground, Reigns has been shunted down to the midcard, and will contest the United States Championship with Rusev at SummerSlam this weekend. He’s still in a spotlight, but he’s out of the WWE Title scene for the first time in years, and his relegation is apparent.

It’s not going to last forever, though. Reigns returned to his old sassy, unconvincing babyface character when he interrupted Rusev and Lana’s post-wedding celebrations on Raw last week, and while it’s unlikely he’ll leave SummerSlam with the US belt, he’ll be back in the main event scene sooner rather than later.

They’re not going to turn him heel at this point. Positioning Reigns with Rusev, the company’s most obvious monster character, is a last roll of the dice at rebuilding Roman as WWE’s chosen babyface. If it succeeds on even the most miniscule of levels, Reigns will be thrust back into the main event scene, and the old complaints will arise once again.

With Raw lacking a top babyface outside of Finn Balor, he’ll be involved in WWE Universal Championship storylines again in a matter of weeks. Recent weeks have made it clear that WWE still see Reigns as “The Guy”, and whether the fans like it or not, he’s inevitably going to make his way back to the top, and will likely have the big belt around his waist again between now and WrestleMania.
