1. Wednesday Night Wars
For all of the expected levels of optimism and hope that have come with Triple H's recent ascending to the top of the WWE creative pile, it's still important to remember that the new leader of the main roster's last stint as the mind behind a product did actually result in a rather embarrassing defeat for the company.
Opting to go head-to-head with Tony Khan's burgeoning AEW on Wednesday nights, while unquestionably a compelling concept and one that led to some often outstanding TV, ultimately led to an absolute battering for NXT in the ratings.
And the blame for this lopsided war was reportedly dumped on Triple H alone, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, with many of his backstage detractors using this failure as "ammunition" in their attempts to stave off the potential of Vince's son-in-law replacing them in the future.
Said attempts clearly did little to keep Trips away from the big job when news of Vince's sudden retirement became public knowledge, mind. But you can bet that The Cerebral Assassin will be hellbent on proving those doubters wrong and that he's learnt from his many Wednesday Night missteps during his time away from the headset.
