10 Things That Happened Last Time Paul Heyman Worked WWE Creative
5. He Fell Out With Vince McMahon
He also needed someone to take his frustrations out on, and that man happened to be the owner of WWE.
According to Bruce Prichard's 'Something To Wrestle With' podcast, Heyman badly wanted CM Punk to look like the man in that Chamber match at December To Dismember. His creative plan called for Punk to eliminate everyone via submission to put him over as a star on the rise. McMahon, who ultimately had final say, disagreed.
Exasperated and stressed out his nut, Paul had a verbal throw down with Vince in front of several others on WWE's creative team. After that, there was no going back, and Heyman even turned down Stephanie McMahon's follow-up suggestion that he write angles again for then-developmental territory OVW (more on that later in this piece).
That was the end of Heyman's work in WWE for almost six years. He hated what Vince had turned his beloved ECW into, and he didn't see a way for things to get better if his ideas were going to be vetoed in favour of ones he thought were pure crap.
