10 Things That Have Contributed To WWE SmackDown Live's Fall From Grace
7. Cancellation Of Talking Smack
There were a number of things that helped SmackDown Live establish its own identity and separate itself for Raw, and Talking Smack was chief among them. The WWE Network post-show gave the stars of SmackDown a platform to speak their mind and develop their character without being subjected to the confines of a script written for them.
Additionally, Renee Young and Daniel Bryan were fabulous hosts who always brought the best out of their guests. Whether it was Baron Corbin finally showing personality or The Miz going off on Bryan, countless individuals benefited from being on Talking Smack, not to mention the half-hour program was always entertaining and left you laughing.
Unfortunately, as a result of budget cuts, WWE announced the cancellation of Talking Smack in mid-July as a weekly series, instead relegating it to after pay-per-view events only. Granted, it was brought back after Battleground a few weeks ago, but the show suffered from Bryan's absence. It just wasn't the same with Jerry Lawler on the panel.
That isn't to say SmackDown Superstars won't find another way to get themselves over, but there simply isn't enough time on Tuesday nights for everyone to be interviewed and cut off-the-cuff promos with the same degree of freedom as Talking Smack.
