10 Things That HAVEN'T Totally Sucked About WWE In 2021
1. The Tribal Chief
Roman Reigns has been the singular saving grace of WWE throughout the pandemic era.
The former 'Big Dog' has wrestled just seven matches throughout 2021 thus far - only two of which went down on cable television - but that's all he needs to do. WWE know where they went wrong when they showed Reigns down our throats as a babyface. As tremendous a heel as he is, his restricted in-ring time has massively benefitted his current persona.
Because he wrestles so infrequently, each match he does have automatically feels larger than it actually is. A random Universal Championship on SmackDown vs. Daniel Bryan was made a significant clash because of the story arc. Bryan was that desperate to dethrone this dominative champion that he was willing to risk his career.
The former Bryan Danielson lost. He's not been seen since; that's rare for WWE's loser leaves town stipulations.
It's not just his in-ring efforts that make Roman a credible performer, though. The guy's work behind a microphone is seriously impeccable. He can compel a viewer with such ease. Paul Heyman bigging him up has been a crucial asset to his 'Tribal Chief' character, too. Without Heyman there, who knows if Roman would have succeeded as much as he has over the past 11 months.
When crowds return full-time, the true assessment of Roman's heel run can be made. Until then, he's the best thing about WWE's current product.
