10 Things That HAVEN'T Totally Sucked About WWE In 2021
2. An All-Time Great Celebrity Match
Above, you'll see Bad Bunny, a 27-year-old singer, performing a Canadian Destroyer - a perfectly-executed Canadian Destroyer - on an actual former professional wrestling World Champion, John Morrison, at WrestleMania 37.
On 1 January of this year, your writer wasn't expecting to type that out.
WWE's history with involving celebrities at WrestleMania rarely results in them getting in on the action themselves, bar Pete Rose taking a Tombstone from Kane, for example. When they lace up a pair of boots, though, the success rate is usually the same; non-existent.
Lawrence Taylor and Snooki at 'Mania's' XI and XXVII, respectively, gave performances that were fine. They're not fully-trained wrestlers, so there was only so much they could do.
As for Bad Bunny? At points, you'd assume he did this for a living.
The Puerto Rican native was genuinely phenomenal in his tag team outing against the Miz and John Morrison, teaming with Damian Priest in the process. Not much was really expected of Bunny here, which made it all that more tantalising when he busted out a pissing Falcon Arrow. A sick tornado DDT, ringside dive, and aforementioned Canadian Destroyer were superb efforts from a celebrity who was clearly taking this seriously, rather than just having a laugh.
