10 Things That HAVEN'T Totally Sucked About WWE In 2021

8. Not Failing An NXT Call-Up Straight Away

WWE's relationship with main roster call-ups from NXT is toxic.

Bo Dallas went from an enjoyable NXT Champion to a literal nobody on Raw and SmackDown, as did the Ascension with the NXT Tag Team Championships. The likes of Shinsuke Nakamura, Asuka, and Andrade flopped on the main roster - regardless of their handful of championship victories - simply because English isn't their first language.

As for Damian Priest, though? He's done alright thus far.

Officially debuting on the main roster during the men's Royal Rumble match, the former NXT North American Champion made an immediate impact by eliminating Elias, then-future Hall of Fame inductee Kane, and soon-to-be rivals John Morrison and the Miz, meaning he was tied for the record for most eliminations in the match with Big E and Seth Rollins.

He's been pinned once since joining the red brand, taking a handicap loss to the aforementioned Morrison and Miz on the post-'Mania Raw episode. His only other loss aside from this was his return match in a battle royal on 28 June.

Priest's recent month-long absence aside, he's been treated impeccably well since departing the black and gold brand. WWE - at one point, anyway - reportedly viewed the former Punishment Martinez as their next big Latin star. That's high praise for Damian; let's hope that becomes the case.
