10 Things We Learned From Attending AEW: Double Or Nothing
6. Events Like Starrcast As So Important To Wrestling
Should go without saying this one, but the bizarre infrequency of events like Starrcast always suggests that the majority of wrestling promotions don’t really see the value in them. Cards fully on the table though, I’ve been a part of running similar things with WCPW/Defiant and, fair enough, they’re an absolute nightmare.
But nothing worth having comes easy, as the old saying goes. While getting dozens and dozens of wrestlers all in the same place at the same time is difficult, and organising hundreds/thousands of fans around them is even harder, it’s categorically worth it.
Without the connection between fans and the performers there is no pro-wrestling, and the partnership between AEW and Starrcast shows that the company absolutely get that. There were meet and greets, signings, podcasts, live talks, interviews, everything, and it will have made the weekends of so, so many fans.
