10 Things We Learned From Kenny Omega On Wrestling Observer Radio
8. He Knew Riho Would Be A Star
AEW Women's Champion Riho has quickly rose to prominence from a virtual unknown in the United States to one of the landscape's most popular stars. Omega is not surprised at her sudden ascension one iota, describing it as "right on schedule".
Kenny had no doubt whatsoever that Riho would translate, especially when she was positioned opposite Nyla Rose in her first programme - a performer he'd seen work in Japan, and who he knew could safely and effectively put Riho's unique style over.
AEW has already produced a lot of gold in its short run, but Omega puts the Riho-Rose programme down as his "proudest moment" in the company to date.
And what does he think makes the champ so special? "For lack of a better term, je ne sais quoi. She has something magnetic." He described the Shinagawa native's ineffable talent as "something you can't train". The world's an oyster for AEW's pearl.
