Athletes Tommie Smith and John Carlos raised their fists on the podium at the 1968 Olympics in Mexico City. Both were wearing black gloves, and both elected to stage their protest during a chorus of 'Star Spangled Banner'. What does that have to do with Kevin Nash, you ask?

Well, he claims his old gloved-fist taunt was a tribute to Smith and Carlos.

Kevin didn't ask for the black glove - the WWF suggested it to make his Diesel character appear badass and cool. As soon as he tried it on, Nash decided to pay homage to the Olympics by making a hidden political statement every night. Austin wasn't convinced by this, but Kev swears blind that it's true.

It's also something he has never really spoken about before. Hell, Steve didn't even know that Nash is actually left-handed. Look closely at the pic above and you'll notice that the WWF stuck that black glove on his right hand. Apparently, they didn't know either.
