6. He Had To Tryout For The WWF

After deciding to finish up as a sports pundit, Angle called the WWF up and asked if their contract offer was still on the table. Three years had passed since the initial offer however, and unsurprisingly the 10-year multi-million dollar deal was off the table.

Jim Ross was the man that Kurt had to deal with, and JR informed Kurt that if he was still interested in joining the World Wrestling Federation then he was more than welcome to head up to them for a tryout. That's quite a drop, from a huge contract based on the Olympics to a tryout.

Still, Kurt had something to prove once more, so tryout he did. The rest, quite obviously, is history.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
