10 Things We Learned From Paul Wight On Renée Paquette's Podcast

1. Wight Has Always Wanted To Do Commentary

This is something the big man kept quiet for years.

Wight told Renée that he has always wanted to do some colour commentary. In fact, transitioning into a broadcast role is something he's been thinking about for the past 15 years. Yes, Big Show has wanted to do comms since 2006-ish, and only Vince McMahon, Kevin Dunn and Michael Cole knew it.

Paquette sure as hell didn't have a clue that Wight was fascinated by announcing, and neither did most wrestling fans. His number one dream is to mimic his hero Gorilla Monsoon by leaving the ring behind full-time so he can become a top commentator. There's something really sweet about that.

Paul has started doing some work behind the desk with Tony Schiavone on AEW Dark: Elevation. That's somewhat of a trial run for him before doing more in the future, and he couldn't be more excited about it. Look out for Wight reaching for Gorilla-isms like, "They're hanging from the rafters" when sell-out crowds return.
