Ron left WCW in 1994, worked some dates for ECW and then popped up again in the WWF with a new look. What a bloody look it was! Vince McMahon wanted to turn Simmons into a cartoonish gladiator, but the wrestler didn't quite understand what he was in for until flying out to try on his outfit for the first time.

Pics of a baffled Ron from Austin's show are hilarious to look back on now.

He couldn't fathom why the WWF boss wanted to dress him this way. After seeing his new threads, Simmons wanted to phone Vince and give him a piece of his mind, but he decided to "do some soul searching" on the flight home and see what his wife thought. She was similarly miffed by the attire.

Ron was worried he'd become the laughing stock of the wrestling biz. The WWF's baby blue colours and leather helmet made him look like a moron; Austin had a good chuckle about it too, and even likened the creative to his own miserable run as 'The Ringmaster'.
