10 Things We Learned From The FCW Documentary
7. Dusty Encouraged Wrestlers To Talk Without A Script
Beginning with an awkward segment from promo class where a green Big E - then using real name Etorre Ewen - the documentary shares how important promos are to the overall product.
Dusty Rhodes was brought in to help wrestlers connect with the audience and transcend into becoming stars. Promo class, or as Dusty called it ‘communication skills,’ consisted of all talent getting an allotted time to give a new promo, and Dream would then give immediate feedback on how the communication went.
Dusty would be a hard critic to talents, but would compassionately encourage trainees to ‘believe it until they knew it.’ What’s more interesting to notice, shown during a promo session with Paige and Roman Reigns, the wrestlers were given an overview of what they should convey, but not a script.
Bayley shared a moment where Rhodes constantly asked her to ‘tell me who you are.’ It appears such a stark contrast with the current main roster receiving scripts from writers informing the workers who they are.
