Then, Vince totally contradicted himself.

Well, being fair, he wasn't specifically talking to himself when he said that the best WWE characters know when to hit the 'off' switch. After announcing that he lifts ridiculously-heavy weights when most people are tucked up in bed, McMahon said he doesn't think it's healthy to be an OTT character 24/7.

Yeah, social media might pick up on this one too. It sounds rich coming from someone so relentless like Vince, but dig a little deeper (which McAfee, to his credit, did) and things become a little clearer. McMahon was actually referring to the mental exhaustion and burnout some wrestlers can experience if they don't switch off.

He sees himself as different, because he's never looked upon WWE life as work. It's fun to him, and he gobbles up task after task like it's nothing. That's unrealistic for most folks though, and he knows that. So, he likes when his wrestlers are able to become real human beings post-show.
