10 Things WWE Got Wrong At No Mercy 2017
6. Welcome Back, Bayley!
The RAW Women’s Championship Fatal 5-Way was far better than it had any right to be. Nia Jax dominated the match as she should have, hitting power move after power move on her four smaller opponents. Jax looked great here, but her participation was seemingly ended early by a sick powerbomb to the outside.
What a difference a year makes. One year ago, Bayley and Sasha Banks were two of the most popular superstars on the entire roster, regardless of gender. As September 2017 bleeds into October, the two were arguably the least over stars in a five-person match featuring three heels. Both can be salvaged, but their time has passed for now.
That was all but confirmed with Bayley taking the pin here. The former champion only returned recently from a shoulder injury, and any momentum she may have had went with her taking the loss. Before the match, it looked like Emma was involved purely to take the fall - it turns out Bayley may well be below the Australian on the RAW totem pole.
