10 Things WWE Must Do To Ensure WrestleMania 33 Doesn't Suck

7. Give The Ladder Match Stipulation To The Cruiserweights

WrestleMania’s annual multi-man ladder matches are always a highlight, but they’re usually reserved for the Intercontinental Title division. This is fine most years, and last year’s contest included some of the company’s most talented performers in Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, and The Miz - but this year’s options aren’t quite as strong.

There’s little going on outside of Dean Ambrose and Baron Corbin’s rivalries, and WWE would be forced to pad the match with undeserving challengers like Apollo Crews and Mojo Rawley. Besides, Corbin and Ambrose have a nice little feud brewing at the moment anyway. The best option is for them to face one on one, and for the ladder gimmick to head elsewhere.

The Cruiserweights are perfect for this spot. Their fast, explosive offence and high-risk style makes the likes of Neville, Gran Metalik, and Akira Tozawa ideally suited for such an environment, and 205 Live has been sorely lacking in all-action spotfests since the show’s inception.

Austin Aries has been mentioned as a potential title challenger at WrestleMania, but throwing the division’s six most exciting performers into one giant cluster makes much more sense here. Few of the Cruiserweights are over on their own, but fans demand excitement from the lighter weight class.

That’s exactly what they’d get.
