10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About AJ Styles

5. Idiotic Booking Threatened His Nakamura Feud

That Shinsuke Nakamura heel turn at WrestleMania 34 was brilliantly executed by all involved. Suddenly, WWE had solved two problems. Firstly, they'd managed to shelter Nakamura's loss to AJ on the show, and secondly, they'd turned an anaemic babyface into a red-hot villain.

It's just a shame the writing team repeatedly made Styles look like an unobservant tool afterwards.

Shinsuke bashed him in the balls time and time again over the next few months. It became his go-to modus operandi, something everyone could see coming apart from AJ. Fans on social media began to joke about Styles' stupidity here. Why wasn't he wearing a protective cup when it was super-obvious that Naka would attack from behind and go for his knackers?

The announcers, who were tasked with selling AJ as a brave champion, were forced to sit there and ignore the glaring question on everyone's lips. It was hardly Styles' fault, but the idiotic booking made him look foolish.
