By December, 1999, Bret Hart was only 2 years removed from one of the most depressing moments of his career. His WWF run had ended due to the infamous 'Montreal Screwjob', and it seemed like he would never work for Vince McMahon again. At WCW's Starrcade 1999 pay-per-view, Hart suffered an errant kick from Goldberg which served to end his in-ring career. Booted in the side of the head, the Canadian was never the same again.

Eventually, he stepped away from full-time wrestling in late-2000. As the years progressed, Hart started to regain speaking terms with McMahon, before finally making a comeback to the promotion in 2010. Apologies were handed out and things moved on, then Hart worked a terribly one-sided match against McMahon at WrestleMania XXVI. There's every chance that things could have been different had Goldberg not been so careless.

Hart's relationship with WWE would likely still have mended years later, but he would have been in a position to work proper matches without the injuries sustained due to Goldberg's neglect. Unable to bump during his match against McMahon, Hart would come to regret Goldberg's kick.
