10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Rey Mysterio

6. Terrible Title Runs

Take a quick glance at Rey Mysterio's list of WWE accomplishments and you'll find two World Heavyweight Title runs and a single WWE Championship victory nestled among a glut of midcard belts. This reads great, but while Rey can technically call himself a three-time World Champion, he's generally regarded among the worst in WWE history.

Booked like an underdog throughout his WWE career, the company took this shtick too far when Mysterio first won the big gold belt in 2006. The diminutive champ lost frequently, eroding any and all credibility generated during his rise to power, and dropped back to the midcard soon after passing the strap to King Booker.

He regained the World Heavyweight Title in 2010, but lost to Kane just a few weeks later. Then, in 2011, Rey was finally handed the WWE Championship... only to give it up just two hours later. Good old John Cena grabbed his golden shovel, and soon delivered one of the most comprehensive burials of his career, as he wrested the belt from Mysterio's clutches on the very same episode of Raw.

Unsurprisingly, Rey never came close to holding WWE's supposed top prize ever again.
