Towards the end of the year 2000, Road Dogg's cards were marked in the then-WWF. His drug problems were getting out of control, and the man was under the influence more than once during televised matches. One tag-team match with K Kwik in particular was such a disaster that Road Dogg pleaded with management not to air it. Behind the curtain, Triple H approached Brian James and warned him that he needed to get his house in order. Accepting the advice, Road Dogg was then shocked when 'The Game' remarked that Brian must 'suffer from that old Armstrong curse'. This was in relation to drug problems that had plagued other members of the man's family. Unsurprisingly, Road Dogg didn't take too kindly to this quip. Threatening to break Triple H's nose, the situation nearly got out of hand until things cooled down. It was then that Road Dogg knew he wasn't long for the company, because he was making enemies with people who had previously been his biggest supporters.
