10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Sin Cara
7. The Sin Cara Vs. Sin Cara Feud
Urive as Cara violated the Wellness Policy in what must be record time. He debuted in April 2011 - and was suspended for 30 days on July 18. He cried ignorance, citing an injection to treat a knee injury.
It was an almost merciful interjection. It represented an opportunity for WWE to write him out of the storylines, demote him to then-developmental territory Florida Championship Wrestling, and start anew. Sheamus did powerbomb Cara through a ladder and off the main roster stage, at Money In The Bank, but WWE, compelled to drive forward with the momentum he had gathered (!), debuted Jorge Arias under the mask as a placeholder. This (obvious, more muscled impostor of) Sin Cara then turned heel by laying waste to Daniel Bryan.
To underscore Cara's turn to the dark side, the ever-subtle WWE dressed him in black attire - and, if that wasn't enough, referred to him as 'Sin Cara N egro. The original Cara - now referred to as Sin Cara Azul - had returned in the meantime to seek his vengeance.
Their feud culminated at Hell In A Cell. It was hoped that Arias would, like Chavo Guerrero before and Rey Mysterio after him, help Cara's transition as a fellow Spanish speaker. It didn't wok; the HIAC bout was another dire entry into the Cara canon. Heat-free, botched and worked as if it were anything but a grudge match, the the New Orleans crowd were definitely not in their usual party mode.
