2. No More Wildcard
Raise your hand right now if you enjoyed the wildcard rule. I'm sure the same amount of hands went up as they did when I was alone writing this with both hands firmly on the keyboard.
The wildcard rule was doomed from the start. The awful Lars Sullivan angle was the fatal blow, and that came on the debut night of the concept. In other words, the writing was on the wall when the wall was being built.
One needs to look no further than WWE's article entitled "Mr. McMahon’s new “Wild Card Rule” explained" on their website. You don't typically need to release articles that explain what the hell we just watched, but this was so necessary it came out the very same day the rule was introduced. It was almost like watching the company shoot itself in the foot, and then proceed to explain why they weren't seeking medical attention for it but rather leaving the bullet in.
That they have finally decided to treat this wound is a very welcome change. It seems safe to assume the wrestlers (particularly those who get no air time, like the ones Owens mentioned) will be just as happy as the fans to know where they will appear every week too.
This was never going to work to begin with, but FOX just happened to have the loudest, most intimidating voice in the room to tell Vince he was wrong.
