10 Things You Didn't Know About Corey Graves

1. Graves Has Defeated CM Punk, AJ Styles, Cesaro, And More

Corey Graves spent 11 long years treading the boards on the independent scene before the call from WWE finally came. In that time he took on some of the biggest names in pro wrestling today as well as coming up short against some of the forgotten men of pro graps, doing jobs in towns against local stars and defeating national names in his own back yard.

In those 11 years Graves came up against performers of the calibre of Samoa Joe, AJ Styles, Sami Zayn, Cesaro, Neville, and Johnny Gargano as well as taking on veterans such as Raven, Rikishi, D-Lo Brown, and Necro Butcher. He won as many as he lost, gaining the respect of his peers.

Coming up through the indy scene, Sterling James Keenan found himself having to deal with a lot of CM Punk comparisons as the two men had similar looks, especially when it came to a fondness for ink. It was inevitable therefore that Keenan and Punk would collide and collide they did, having a long feud in IWC that saw Keenan eventually beat Punk in a match that meant Punk was forced to be the 'Saviour of Misbehaviour's partner.

Corey Graves is going to become an international wrestling superstar for his work at the commentary desk but it must not be forgotten that his role comes at the end of a decade and a half of blood, sweat, and concussions in the ring. Graves is one of the most eloquent ambassadors WWE has for its new era, and we are going to learn a whole lot more about him as the years go by.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
