Massaro pretty much disappeared from the wrestling map once she orchestrated a release from WWE in 2008 so she could raise her young daughter. Autograph appearances became her go-to work in the industry, and that was about it. Then, in 2017, she was advertised for a Zero1 USA show in Toulon, Illinois.

On 30 September that year, Ashley worked the old valet gimmick for 'Underrated Overhated 5'7 Gift From Heaven' Oliver Cain (how's that for a nickname?). Her good friend and fellow ex-Diva Jillian Hall appeared in the other corner for 'Mr. Know It All' D.A. Morrison, and the booking called for both to get physically involved.

This was the first time post-WWE that Massaro had got her hands dirty.

She noted on Twitter that she'd enjoyed the experience, and that she'd be interested in doing more of it. That was all promoters needed to hear. They started to book Ashley for appearances on their shows (usually in a pre-event meet and greet capacity) over the next few years.
