10 Things You Didn’t Know About Sasha Banks

3. Her Husband's Work Is All Over WWE

Professional wrestling runs through the Banks family, but fans might be surprised to hear that The Boss might not be the most influential WWE personality at home. Banks is married to Sarath Ton, a former pro wrestler who has since carved out an impressive career as a costume designer for WWE. Okay, the term ‘costume designer’ is a little too churlish, better to go with gear designer.

Ton was signed to WWE and performed in developmental for years, although his most notable moment came in being squashed by Ryback in June 2012. On that night, Ton went by the excellent moniker of ‘Rutherford Hayes’, teaming with Willard Filmore in a losing effort against the Big Guy. Maybe the duo would have fared better if Filmore hadn’t attempted to walk out on Hayes, but that is for another time. An eye injury soon put an end to Ton’s in-ring career.

Ton transitioned into a role as a ring gear designer, going under the moniker Mikaze in the process. He has since designed gear for anyone who’s anyone over the years, including the white and gold ensemble worn by Seth Rollins as this year’s WrestleMania. Oh, and he was also the first-ever Up Up Down Down Champion.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
