10 Things You Didn’t Know About WWE WrestleMania

7. Steel Cage Fans Had Quite The Wait

WrestleMania has witnessed several Hell In A Cell bouts since the famous match type was created in 1997, but it has only housed two standard steel cage efforts. Yep, just two of the blighters, so if someone asks you to name your favourite cage effort they're probs talking about HIAC.

King Kong Bundy vs. Hulk Hogan at ‘Mania 2 (on a Monday!) was the first, but there wasn't another standard cage match until Shane McMahon and Braun Strowman locked horns in a duff effort at 37. To put that into context, it represents a staggering 36 year wait for the beloved gimmick.

No 'Mania paydays for you, Mr. Steel Cage.

It's very surprising to think one of wrestling's go to stips has been ignored like this over the years. One would imagine that WrestleMania would be the ideal battleground for cages, but WWE has typically favoured the Cell variation of this well-known match type instead.
