10 Things You Didn't Know About Stevie Ray

7. He Took His Ring Name From Stevie Ray Vaughan

Truth be told, you could probably have guessed this one even if you didn't know it for sure. I mean, Stevie Ray could have taken his name from Scottish MMA fighter Stevie Ray, but then he was born in 1990 so it is fairly unlikely. No, the name was taken from legendary blues guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughan. Also a Texas native, Vaughan was raised in Dallas and supposedly began playing guitar at the ripe old age of seven, which is pretty darn young to do anything. He is considered one of the key figures in reviving interest in blues music. He joined his first band, the Chantones, at the age of 10. Vaughan was pretty prolific in his 25 active years, before his life was tragically cut short by a helicopter crash on August 27th 1990, just five days after our Stevie Ray's 32nd birthday.

Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
