10 Things You Forgot Happened At Extreme Rules

An often underrated event, Extreme Rules has featured a number of memorable matches and moments in the last several years. Since its inception in 2009, every instalment of the pay-per-view has been must-see and this year's looks to be no different.
With most matches on the card carrying a unique stipulation of some sort, fans are almost always guaranteed something special. From Brock Lesnar's in-ring return in 2012 to CM Punk's World Heavyweight Championship win in 2009, Extreme Rules is famous for its historic happenings, so it will be interesting to see what WWE will have in store this Sunday.
However, similar to any other event, Extreme Rules has had its fair share of hidden gems over the years, along with many moments that are probably better off forgotten.
While WrestleMania may be the grand stage and the culmination of a year's work, what fans may not know is that Extreme Rules tends to be equally if not more noteworthy. The show presents all the aftermath from WrestleMania as well as fresh feuds and match-ups that kick off the new year in wrestling on a high note.
Many milestone moments have come at Extreme Rules, whether you've realized it or not.
10. John Cena Got Scared By A Demon Child (2014)
As great as the feud was between John Cena and Bray Wyatt going into WrestleMania 30, their match at the event didn't tell the same story. Originally, their rivalry focused on Cena trying to cement his "legacy," but at WrestleMania, Wyatt tried to bring out the monster of Cena instead.
Though solid, the match was a glorified disappointment, but their Extreme Rules match gave fans hope that they could redeem themselves inside a steel cage. Moreover, the steel structure would prevent Wyatt Family members Luke Harper and Erick Rowan from getting involved, thus allowing Cena and Wyatt to have the outstanding one-on-one match they were capable of.
Oddly enough, there was more involvement from Harper and Rowan in this match than there was at WrestleMania, hindering the quality of the contest as a result. Furthermore, despite Wyatt's best attempts to get Cena to "embrace the hate," the leader of the Cenation remained true to his hustle, loyalty and respect moniker and refused to give in.
When all else failed, Wyatt looked to a "demon child" to help him distract Cena long enough so he could capitalize and score the win. Not only was it extremely campy, but it was never acknowledged again, making the moment a complete waste of time.
