10 Things You Learn Binge Watching Every WWE Raw From 1995
10. 1995 Was The Birth Of Post-WrestleMania Raw
The WWF failed to capitalise on any lingering WrestleMania buzz during the first two years of Raw's existence, but 1995 was a little different. Vince McMahon, perhaps seeing the potential to hook fans and introduce his next top programs, decided to make the 3 April episode more compelling.
Sycho Sid turned on Shawn Michaels, Bertha Faye debuted as a new rival for Women's Champ Alundra Blayze and Diesel helped establish his next WWF Title challenger by warning old pal HBK about Sid's true intentions since returning. This was the first time that Raw had seemed vital the night after 'Mania.
McMahon announced that he'd be giving away a literal house on the upcoming In Your House pay-per-view too.
That announcement, along with all the other major story beats, gave Raw a 'must see' vibe it had lacked in the aftermath of both 'Mania IX and X. This was certainly better than bringing back Captain Lou Albano as a manager and expecting fans to care.
