10 Things You Somehow Missed In AEW

9. Kenny Omega: Even When He's Silly, He's Good

Kenny Omega obscured a key storyline detail within another daft cosplay bit on the Halloween-themed 2021 Dynamite.

In another match against the Dark Order, Omega, this time teaming with the Bucks and Adam Cole, wore a Ghostbusters outfit. It was all as silly as it was clever. Hangman Page stealthily dressed as the Stay-Puft marshmallow man having decked Brandon Cutler before the match; Cutler meanwhile was forced into a donkey costume with his mouth taped shut, and thus couldn't reveal the ruse by the time he'd made it to the ring. He could have removed the head from the outfit, of course, but he plays a blithering imbecile, so even the plot hole worked.

During the match, Omega, wary of Cole's motives upon debuting in the promotion, refused to tag him in at various points. Wearing a Ghostbusters outfit, he ghosted the man who had been "killed" on Being The Elite, busting his attempts to get involved, in order to foreshadow their eventual programme. Again: supremely daft, but nonetheless rewarding for those deep in the weeds of the Elite's continuing story.

What's especially impressive about this low-key detail is that the Elite had originally planned to dress in Squid Game-themed attire before TNT scuppered the plan for reasons, possibly IP-related, that were never made clear. Within the eleventh-hour scramble, Omega devised a way of very slyly rewarding his ultras.

In a further, glorious detail, the Elite took a picture alongside who they thought was Cutler - but look at the mischievous finger in that picture.

It was Hangman all along, Austin!
