10 Things You Totally Forgot About Chris Jericho
2. Only One Of His Nine Intercontinental Championship Reigns Exceeded Three Months
For someone who has held the Intercontinental Championship more than anyone else, it's curious that only one of Chris Jericho's record-setting nine title reigns actually exceeded 100 days - and even that title reign wasn't all that memorable.
Jericho first captured the championship from Chyna at Armageddon 1999. He went on to win the title another six times in the remainder of his run with the company, but all of his reigns were less than three months long.
That isn't to say Jericho doesn't deserve to be in the conversation of greatest Intercontinental champions of all-time, as he did have many classic matches over the title in that five-year span, but others have had better runs with the prestigious prize than he did.
His longest title reign came in 2008 and lasted 111 days, but most of his run as champ was overshadowed by his unforgettable feud with Shawn Michaels. His final reign in 2009 was brief but at least occurred during his stellar series of matches with Rey Mysterio.
Additionally, Jericho is the first wrestler to win both the WWE and IWGP Intercontinental Championships, though his one run with the latter title consisted of one successful title defense over the span of 209 days.
