10 Times "Best For Business" WWE Decisions Sucked
4. Going PG
Going back to TV-14 isn't the quick-fix many fans have claimed it to be, granted, and the WWE product wasn't exactly in great shape in 2008 when they originally cleaned up their act anyway.
The truth is bringing back profanity, blood and beer would probably only marginally improve today's WWE, and what's more the buzz would only last a couple of months before the novelty inevitably wears off.
But its less about those conspicuous examples of "edge" than it is the overall direction of the company, which now favours archetypal vanilla good-guy characters over anti-hero-types like Stone Cold, who played such a pivotal role in the success of the Attitude Era.
The company knows it can always rely on the younger audience to buy its merch, though, and for that reason making things more kid-friendly made a lot of business sense.
