10 Times A Stone Cold Steve Austin Pop Blew The Roof Off

Stone Cold
WWE

It’s one of longest sustained roars from a crowd you’re ever likely to hear at a wrestling show, and something which sticks long in the minds of fans of the WWE from the attitude era.

Once again McMahon was involved, but this time against his former protégé The Rock, and in favour of new son in law, Triple H.

With murmurings of a Stone Cold return and The Rock ‘guaran-dam-teeing’ a victory with the help of Austin, the suspense was in the air all night in the MCI Centre in Washington DC.

As HHH, the McMahons, and stooges Patterson and Briscoe beat down on Rocky, it looked like Stone Cold was not appearing and would let the 'People’s Champion' down.

However, as Triple H got set for a pedigree, glass shattered, and out stormed a determined Austin, steel chair in hand. He laid waste to Helmsley, Patterson, and Briscoe en route to the ring, before taking out Shane and then Vince with blistering chair shots.

HHH would take another shot to the head, and Austin would casually make his way backstage with a nod and a smile to Linda McMahon on his way.

It’s a truly captivating watch and encapsulates everything that was loved about WWE during the Attitude era, while it also laid the foundations for a Rock and Stone Cold feud in the year ahead.
