10 Times Fighters Used Their Signature Move In A Movie
5. Bob Sapp - Longest Yard
Just to preface this entry, Bob Sapp at one time was one of the most feared men in all of MMA and for good reason. Standing 6'5" and weighing over 300lbs of pure muscle, Sapp may not have possessed the most refined skillset in combat sports, but he knew how to use his strength and athleticism to his advantage.
Unfortunately for Sapp, despite his early successes, the former NFL player's reputation in fighting would forever be tainted by his decision to begin throwing fights at the first hint of damage, knowing that he would still receive a paycheck regardless. Since becoming a perpetual flopper, Sapp has gone on to lose 16 of his last 18 fights in MMA, and 12 of his last 14 in kickboxing.
In that sense, Sapp's signature move is to avoid conflict, leading him to be actively mocked in combat sports circles for his timidity as a professional fighter. This was ironically mirrored by Sapp's appearance in the 2005 film The Longest Yard as Switowski, a convict who is surprisingly cowardly in spite of his incredible physical attributes.
