10 Times Randy Orton Broke Character

9. Orton Forgets His Line

Thankfully, Orton’s smellowed in recent years, as he showed in 2013 when this time he was the one to make a mistake.

On the Raw after WrestleMania 29—a fairly conspicuous stage, then—Randy Orton clearly forgot his line during a promo segment with Sheamus, resulting in his dialogue looking a little like this: "While you’re out here pleading your case and practically begging for support... Big Show’s mine tonight."

Bit of a change of direction there, Randy, don't you think?

It’s worth mentioning that there was an incredibly long pause before that Big Show punchline, during which Orton slowly wandered over to Sheamus, dropped the mic and tapped his chest, while appearing to mouth the words "what’s my line?"

Luckily, Sheamus was on hand to make the save, and after a brief and inaudible back-and-forth, Orton was put on the right track and the promo continued as intended. Ultimately this was dealt with pretty well, and rather than ruining the entire segment, this just served as a stark reminder as to why it may not be such a great idea to give guys such overly scripted promos.
