10 Times Real Sports Stars Gatecrashed WWE

1. Tim Wiese

We finish this list with one of the most left-field stories to break in recent years. Having retired from football at the start of last year, German international goalkeeper Tim Wiese was rumoured to be interested in joining the WWE. After more than 200 appearance in the German top flight, Wiese€™s career had seen quite the downturn. A loss of form saw him lose his starting berth, first with Werder Bremen, then with Hoffenheim, and to deal with the disappointment he began lifting weights. Months later, his physique had radically changed. Wiese was no longer built for a career in professional football. This led to a reported contract offer from Vince McMahon and co, and a subsequent appearance at a WWE Live Event in Frankfurt. It marks quite the turnaround for a man who in 2010 was selected for the FIFA World Cup. And while it remains too early to guess how he€™ll fare, if a successful career between the ropes does become a reality, surely this€™ll be the most unusual sports star success story in all of WWE history?
