10 Times The PPV After WrestleMania Was Better

9. Backlash (2006)

"From the kingdom of Heaven, please welcome, God." "McMahon wants God to get 'Jiggy with it'."
Backlash 2006 mixed some of WWE's most compelling action in the ring with some of its brilliant best entertainment. Seeing Vince McMahon go toe-to-toe with 'the man upstairs' was fantastic television and completely in keeping with Vince's character. You could imagine Vinnie sitting backstage and telling all of his subordinates that he could legitimately beat God up in a fight. Shawn Michaels, a man that is famous for being born again and finding God was teamed with the big man in a no holds barred match against Vince and Shane, which was sports entertainment at its most physically endeavouring and entertaining best. The likes of RVD vs. Shelton Benjamin, Umaga vs. Ric Flair and the main event of John Cena vs. Edge vs. Triple H appeased our appetite for great traditional wrestling matches. WrestleMania XXII, on the other hand, is arguably the worst Mania of the modern era. Not one single match on the card has been remembered with any real fondness. McMahon and Michaels faced off in a street fight, which was ok; Edge defeated Mick Foley, which was ok with one unforgettable flaming table spot; Undertaker had an ok casket match with Mark Henry and the main event between Cena and The Game was nothing more than, you guessed it, ok. Carlito vs. Chris Masters even made the card for goodness sake...
