10 Times The PPV After WrestleMania Was Better

10. Survivor Series (1987)

The first Surviver Series completely out shadowed WrestleMania III. These were the only two pay per views held in 1987 which would lead you to expect them both to be instant classics, this was far from the case however. The lack of PPV events was commonplace back then as technology and the mentality of the business, coupled with its popularity somewhat dictated that the system which became so popular over the years wouldn't be a goer. Mania 3, which was held in March of '87, provided us with what is still arguably the most iconic moment in WWE history with Hulk Hogan's body slam on Andre The Giant, but apart from that, they event was mostly filler rather than killer. While there was other great matches featuring icons of the business such as: Harley Race vs. The Junkyard Dog, Roddy Piper vs. Adrian Adonis and The Hart Foundation & Dangerous Danny Davis vs. The British Bulldogs & Tito Santana, we were also made to sit through the likes of: Billy Jack Haynes vs. Hercules, Hillbilly Jim, Haiti Kid, and Little Beaver vs. King Kong Bundy, Little Tokyo, and Lord Littlebrook plus Butch Reed vs. Koko B. Ware. Survivor Series, which took place the following November, was an event that you simply couldn't take your eyes off. In the early years of the PPV, every match that took place was the traditional elimination tag match that normally closes the show in modern-day WWE. The first Survivor Series saw: Randy Savage, Jake Roberts, Ricky Steamboat, Brutus Beefcake, and Jim Duggan vs.The Honky Tonk Man, Hercules, Danny Davis, Ron Bass, and Harley Race. The Fabulous Moolah, Rockin' Robin, Velvet McIntyre, and The Jumping Bomb Angels vs. Sensational Sherri, The Glamour Girls, Donna Christianello, and Dawn Marie. Strike Force, The Young Stallions, The Fabulous Rougeaus, The Killer Bees, and The British Bulldogs vs. The Hart Foundation, The Islanders, Demolition, The Bolsheviks, and The Dream Team. (Twenty-man tag team Survivor Series elimination match.) André the Giant, One Man Gang, King Kong Bundy, Butch Reed, and Rick Rude vs. Hulk Hogan, Paul Orndorff, Don Muraco, Ken Patera, and Bam Bam Bigelow. A stellar card.
