10 Times Women's Wrestling SERIOUSLY Kicked Ass

5. The Light At The End Of The Tunnel

Kicking *ss literally and figuratively, the Double Or Nothing pre-show match between Serena Deeb and Riho was the first match to be broadcast from a full AEW venue in a year and a half and sailed beyond high physical and emotional expectations.

What started out as quite a measured contest soon became Deeb looking to take her moment by taking Riho's leg as a trophy. Unleashing a brand of violence audiences hadn't been able to enjoy en masse in the flesh since March 2020, 'The Professor' set about teaching the former AEW Women's Champion some cruel lessons before facing a comeback that almost robbed her of her own strap.

Entering as the NWA Women's Champion off the back of some hugely impressive displays, Deeb illustrated such slick execution alongside her viciousness that calls were made for her to propelled right into AEW's own scene. Though that took a little longer, leaning into her heelish tendencies didn't - all the bubbling rage she just about kept a lid on here exploded on Hikaru Shida when the two entered into a lengthy TV programme after full normality was restored.
