10 Times Wrestlers Lost Their Title Belts

If you've ever wondered why Michael Hayes and Jimmy Garvin would occasionally come to the ring with only one of the NWA Mid-Atlantic World Tag Team Title belts instead of the customary two, well it's very simply because they managed to lose the other one.

In stories that do, in fairness, get recounted fondly by both of them, the pair would often have to improvise their pre-match showboating at events to disguise the fact that they were only carrying one of the straps. This wasn't too much of a problem on the territories, but once that belt became the WCW World Tag Team Championship it became significantly more important as a television prop.

This, sadly, didn't make Hayes anymore reliable in the situation, and he would allegedly still leave the belt in hotel rooms or his bag and not realise until they were due to go on. He at least never lost them for good, to his credit.
