Been notified in the strongest possible terms by our legal team to state that this story is entirely anecdotal and comes from neither of the two people who would actually be able to verify it so, whatever, take it with a massive, massive pinch of Wrestling Twitter.

Billy Gunn might have been a 10-time Tag Team Champion, but he mustered only one run with the Intercontinental title. This came in the year 2000 after he successfully won it from Eddie Gurrero, but lasted only a short two weeks as he'd drop it to Chris Benoit at Armageddon. Legend has it, part of the reason for this relative hot-shotting, was because he'd been somewhat careless with the gold.

Ahead of an unspecified WWE event, Billy Gunn (allegedly) paid an (alleged) visit to the (alleged) home of an (alleged) woman where they (allegedly) got their (alleged) freaks on. Realising he was (allegedly) now running late for (alleged) show, he (allegedly) departed in an (alleged) hurry and, allegedly, left the Interncontinetal title behind.

Retrieving it later that evening, Gunn was given a dressing down backstage for being so careless with his first major singles belt, and forced a rethink of his suitability by creative.
