10 Times Wrestlers Were Injured By The Fans

1. Roddy Piper

Maverick badass Roddy Piper sadly passed away on 30 July 2015. The official cause of death was cardiac arrest, and the entire wrestling world mourned the loss of a favourite son. Incredibly, Piper could've died over 30 years earlier during a 1982/1983 card in North Carolina.

'Hot Rod' revealed during his 2015 documentary 'In His Own Words' that a fan stabbed him "an inch from the heart" following his match in Raleigh. That, according to Piper, was just one of three times he was stuck with a knife during his dramatic pro wrestling career, but it was by far the scariest.

Thankfully, Roddy lived to tell the tale.

Piper's ability to wind audiences up became legendary over the years. Even so, there's obviously no excuse for someone stabbing a performer for being good at their job. Roddy was lucky to survive that one.
