10 Times WWE Attitude Era Went Too Far

The love triangles we see on WWE television today, like Rusev, Lana, and Bobby Lashley, for example, tend to be somewhat comedic in nature. However, these types of rivalries often had a very different feel to them during the Attitude Era.

Most wrestling love triangles usually start when the female participant leaves one man for another. However, the Brain Pillman versus Goldust on-screen feud featured a very reluctant female character in Terri Runnels.

In fact, at one point, Goldust and Pillman competed in an 'Indecent Proposal' match, in which the victor would receive Runnel's 'services.' Of course, Pillman won the match, and the valet essentially became his (kayfabe) slave. From there, Goldust was taunted every week with racy video segments called the XXX Files.

In should be noted that Runnels was Goldust's real-life wife at the time, and she had a previous relationship with Pillman, so this angle had to be as uncomfortable for the performers to act out as it was for the audience to watch.
